The Dutch government aid disbursed more than 40 million euros for Indonesia to develop renewable energy projects (renewable energy). The project applies to the period 2010 to 2013.

Dutch Economy Minister Maria van der Hoeven JA explained, the two countries has long economic partnership by forming a working group (working group) on some sectors, namely renewable energy, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, water, research and technology.

“Cooperation and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two countries will be a momentum to boost economic bilateral commitments, not only from government to government but also in the private sector,” she said during a bilateral meeting with Minister of Trade Mari Elka Pangestu at the Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, Thursday, March 4, 2010.

Meanwhile, the working group of agriculture, fishery, and forestry, both countries stressed the importance of cooperation in the field working groups.

2009 has begun on a new project in the field of horticulture, dairy sector, and fisheries.

Cooperation in the field of water management, according to Mary, is one manifestation of the success of cooperation so far. The two countries agreed to continue working with two new projects, namely Situ Gintung (dams) and Didah (climate).

In addition to discussing the development of working groups, several issues including environmental cooperation, tourism, and transport also became an important agenda in the bilateral meeting.

Minister of Trade Mari Elka Pangestu admitted happy with the lifting of restrictions for aircraft flying Indonesian airlines to the EU.

“Garuda Indonesia will open direct flights to Amsterdam from June 1, 2010, and I hope that with the smooth transportation can enhance the business potential of both countries,” said Mari.
